Celebrate What Was, Focus on What is, and Get Prepared for What is to Come

This year, my senior year of high school, is going to bring forth many opportunities and blessings that I am looking forward to. Many great things have happened in my high school career already, but this is the year to put all of the things I have learned, seen and experienced together to produce a final result.

So what goals should I have? What can this year give me? Basically, I am looking forward to molding myself into the best person I can be.

Goals for the year

My main goal for this year is to make a difference in my community. I spend a lot of time in community service and plan on using the opportunities that come with being a senior on getting out and serving the area I live in.

Also, there is a project that my youth group started, named Operation Hydration (check us out on Facebook) that set a goal of raising $1 million to help build wells for people who desperately need clean water. I plan on devoting much time to help realize this goal, and I am excited to see where this project takes us.

Academically, nothing is more of a priority than getting accepted into college. I am not sure on which college I want to go to yet, but there are many that interest me and I would like to see an acceptance letter from whichever school I choose.

I am also looking forward to possible scholarships that would help ease the transition from high school to college. I’m worried about trying to figure out where I’m going to go, and what I’m going to spend time, money and effort on.

I know that I want to be a high school teacher, but there are so many paths to get there. Whatever I choose, however, will be chosen with much care and deliberation.

Changing mentality

Life as a high schooler has been something that I have gotten used to, and it will take awhile to get used to a new college mentality. I am looking forward to being able to focus more on fewer subjects and really start to become a professional.

I am excited to be able to work with other students that value the education and atmosphere of a college campus along with the vast opportunities that present themselves around the community. I do know that wherever I go will be a place that allows me to better myself in every aspect of life and develop relationships with great people from all kinds of circumstances and situations.

This year is going to be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to celebrate what was, focus on what is, and get prepared for what is to come. I am not going to let anything slip by and I look forward to receiving all the benefits that come with graduating.

Overall, I want to graduate as the best person that I am able to be with nothing left behind at high school. I want to get all A’s this year, learn as much as possible, meet everyone I can, get as much advice as I can, and walk across the stage knowing that there is nothing left in high school for me to do.

My senior year will be the best year of my life as long as I take the steps that I know I need to take and put all of the necessary work in.
