The American Fire Sprinkler Association was established in 1981 to educate the public about the life-saving benefits of automatic fire sprinkler systems. They are awarding 10 scholarships to students who read a short essay on sprinklers and fire safety and complete a 10-question quiz. Each correct answer brings students closer to winning.

Fun info: Since 1996, AFSA has awarded nearly $250,000 in scholarships. Through this, they not only hope to bring college education closer to students but also to raise awareness about fire safety.

How much? $2,000

Who can enter? Applicants must be a high school senior in the 2008-2009 academic year and plan to attend college in the United States in fall 2009.
